Brics to host their own version of ICICI Bank, says Prime Minister
India’s top banker and chief economic adviser, Gautam Adani, has said the country is set to host its own version a key global financial institution and a key lender to the United Nations.
The Indian central bank chief also said India will have a role in establishing an international financial institution.
“India has been in the forefront of innovation, entrepreneurship and development in many fields,” Adani said in an interview with a Bengali publication on Tuesday.
“We have been working on this idea of the Brics bank for over a decade.”
We will be working with the IMF, the World Bank, the European Union and others,” he said.
Adani, whose company has invested billions of dollars in India’s economy, said the Indian government is keen to establish an international bank and its own currency.
Last year, Adans father-in-law and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said the Braccas bank was “fantastic”. “
We want to be a strong player in the world economy, Adani added.

The bank will be run by the Indian central government, Adanis father said.
The two-time world’s richest man said India would set up its own bank in partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF), the UN and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and would play a central role in its development.
India will also be a founding member of the World Financial Institutions Forum (WFIF), which is an international group of financial institutions.
It is set up in London, Adanes said.
Adani said he expected to be appointed as the head of the bank in April and would also hold the reins in the first year of operation.
At the time of his appointment, Adanian said India was ready to set up the first bank of its size in 20 years.
