China-Pakistan Business Link: $10bn Trade Deal Could Lead to More than $20 Billion in Business in Pakistan
Business Insider has reported that a $10 billion trade deal between China and Pakistan could lead to more than $200 billion in trade in the future.
The trade deal could help Pakistan boost its export revenue by more than 15 per cent and would help it export more than 3,200 items in 2018, according to the Wall Street Journal.
This deal could also boost Chinese investment into the country.
The agreement could allow the country to import up to $10,000 worth of Chinese goods, according the Wall Journal.
China is currently the largest foreign investor in Pakistan, according in its annual report on foreign investment.
The news comes amid growing tensions between China’s President Xi Jinping and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Earlier this month, Pakistan announced it had suspended visa-free travel for Chinese nationals in the country, a move that had led to a diplomatic spat between the two countries.
